Evolutionary Catalysts help people think more realistically and comprehensively about the economic-industrial system that drives global warming and other environmental disasters. The purpose is to mobilize public will to doing everything required to pull out of our ecological nosedive.
Some of us also introduce people to tools they can use to resolve their own emotional issues.
Our intention, with others, is to evolve a compassionate life-affirming culture, rather than continuing on our present course of ecological self-destruction.
Mindset change through personal conversations
We are in the business of affecting people’s mindsets – not through manipulation, but by improving mental and emotional functioning.
We think the most effective way to help people improve their thinking is through informal personal conversations where people agreed to dedicate time to think together.
We have a vision of millions of citizen educators talking with people they know – friends and business colleagues.
We provide communication tools to make such conversations succinct and effective.
Communication tools for systems change
- Escalating Disasters – grasping the implications of current ecological and social trends. This conversation brings home to people why we need transformative change.
- Kitchen Table Conversations – connecting the dots to grasp the major drivers that make global warming and other ecological trends worse. This conversation enables people to grasp what needs to change to pull out of our ecological nosedive.
Communication tools for cultivating emotional well-being
Cultivating emotional well-being and maturity is as important as technical changes in evolving a compassionate life-affirming culture.
Inner Work: Resolving our own emotional issues is a course introducing people to techniques they can use to resolve their own emotional issues. Importantly, these techniques are straightforward to introduce to other people. No great training is required.
How might we turn this into a transformative movement?
Our challenge is to engage large numbers of people. No one group has the necessary reach. Our strategy is to engage as many groups as possible.
Some Evolutionary Catalysts do ‘Outreach Conversations’ with leaders of groups, thought leaders, and with people who might become colleagues.

The back story
Thought leadership for the League of Evolutionary Catalysts has been provided by Andrew Gaines. His professional background has been in improving brain functioning through the Feldenkrais method of body education, psychotherapy, and creativity training.
Andrew realized that virtually none of the environmental-progressive groups have a vision of whole system change (they focus on more specific projects), and the great thinkers who do articulate the need for whole system change have no means of reaching the general public.
Andrew co-organized two 3-day intensive workshops in 2010 -2011, hoping to catalyze a movement in Australia championing whole system change. Although participants loved the workshops, the facilitators never took the conversation to the level of catalyzing a transformative movement.
So Andrew decided to design everything required: both the needed communication tools and a delivery strategy.
